The Police Adventure Club (PAC) organised the first-ever Force Indoor Rowing Competition at the Police Sports & Recreation Club on August 16. The PAC Indoor Rowing Team, which was only formed in 2000, won the indoor rowing competition in the annual Corporate Games in 2001 and 2002. One of its members also represented the Force in the World Police & Fire Games held in Barcelona earlier this year.

The Hong Kong Police (HKP) competed with teams from three other disciplined services: the Correctional Services Department (CSD), Immigration Department and the Customs & Excise Department. The 100 plus enthusiastic and determined competitors displayed great strength and skill throughout the competition.

Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Mr Tsang Wai-hung presented prizes to the winners, who were:

Men's 2000m race - Airport Security Unit (ASU) Senior Inspector Mr Simon Southgate in 6 minutes 48 seconds

Women's 2000m race - ASU Woman Police Constable Ms Cheung Mei-lan in 8 minutes 45 seconds

Men's Senior race (40+) Police Tactical Unit Headquarters Station Sergeant Mr Chan Pei-bik in 7 minutes 22 seconds

Soon after the competition, the PAC organised a Healthy Life Style Promotion Programme called the 'The Indoor Rowing Challenge Day'. It attracted 400 officers and family members. They all took part in a one-minute rowing fitness test and three competitive events. The three-member relay race was won by a 'three-generation' family group comprising PTU Z2 Station Sergeant Mr Cheung Chor-ming, his father (a retired police officer) and his son.

Chairman of Healthy Life Style Committee, Senior Superintendent Mr Tsang Choi-on, who had taken part in the event, presented prizes to the winners.
