PTU HQ wins Henry Shield Relay Race

A four-man team from the Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQ) has once again won the Henry Shield Relay Race with an aggregate time of 48' 56".

The race was held on October 14 round the Lower Aberdeen Reservoir on the Hong Kong Island under clear skies and in cool temperatures, attracting a total of 66 teams.

The fastest individual runner of the event, however, was Mr Andy Naylor from EU KW. He finished the first leg in a record time of 11' 11.56", just beating the old record of 11' 12" set by Sgt Wong Wing-kuen in 1997.

In the Women Section, the EU KW three-member team finished first with an aggregate time of 49' 05". One of the team members, WPC Cheung Ngar-sze, clocked the fastest time of the day for one circuit of the course at 15' 57".

The results were tabulated on computer for the first time by Sgts Cheung Yuen-kwong and Ngai Chi-yuen, both PTI cadres from the Police Training School.

The Director of Operations, Mr Tang King-shing, assisted by KW Deputy Regional Commander, Mr Raymond Lau Chi-keung, officiated at the trophy presentation.

Meanwhile, the four fastest male athletes and the two fastest female athletes in the Force took the opportunity to meet Mr Tang King-shing after the relay race.
