The Security Manager of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Martin Purbrick, has presented banners to officers of Kowloon East Crime Headquarters in appreciation of their efforts in detecting three pickpocket cases at Jockey Club off-course betting centres in Kowloon East.

At the same presentation ceremony, Kowloon East Crime Senior Superintendent Kevin Laurie presented two letters of appreciation to the staff of the Jockey Club and Sik Sik Yuen of Wong Tai Sin Temple for their co-operation in providing information on pickpocket activities.

As a proactive action against pickpocket activities in Kowloon East, officers of the Regional Anti-Triad Unit and Regional Intelligence Unit have formed a special task force to cover black spots, including off-course betting centres, the Wong Tai Sin Temple and marketplaces. As a result, seven persons arrested in five cases had been sentenced to imprisonments ranging from eight to 19 months.
