IPCC visits Kowloon West Emergency Unit

Seven members of Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), Mr Chan Bing-woon, Mr Edgar Kwan Chi-ping, Dr Shum Ping-shiu, Mr Daniel Cham Ka-hung, Dr Charles Koo Ming-yan, Professor Benjamin Tsou Ka-yin, and Dr Michael Tsui Fuk-sun, visited the Emergency Unit of Kowloon West (EU KW) on April 23.

During the visit, the members toured the operational base and were briefed on the tactics of handling "Anti-Late Night Violence" in the Region. They also saw demonstrations on the tactical use of breaking equipment and Blackman Suit. Before departure, the visitors talked to officers about the daily policing work in KW Region.

Accompanying the visitors were Director of Management Services Mike Dowie, Kowloon West Regional Commander Lee Ka-chiu, Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Wong Doon-yee, and Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch (C&IIB) Chief Superintendent Debbie Chang.

The visit was organised by C&IIB as part of a programme to further enhance IPCC members' understanding of frontline policing.
