Nine officers receive CP's Commendation

Nine officers have been awarded Commissioner's Commendation for their exemplary performances.

The officers are Supeintendent Chiu Ming-wah of Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB), Woman Chief Inspector Queenie Wong Siu-hing of Child Protection Policy Unit, Senior Inspector Paul Haley of Support Wing, Senior Inspector Dick Wong Chung-chun of Crime New Territories South, Station Sergeant Chung Fat-yeung of OCTB, Sergeant Lui Shing-shun of Yau Ma Tei Division, Police Constable Chung Wing-hong of Tsz Wan Shan Division, Police Constable Choy Ka-chun of Sau Mau Ping Division, and the Commissioner's Personal Assistant, Ms Heidi Leung Mei-nor.

SP Chiu, SGT Lui and PC Chung have been commended for neutralising a highly organised and notorious triad syndicate in Tsuen Wan with 35 triad members convicted and most of them sentenced to imprisonments ranging from two months to four years for triad-related, assault and dangerous drugs offences.

WCIP Wong and SIP Wong have earned their commendations with their roles in the investigation of a rape case, resulting in the subsequent detection of six more rape cases, one attempted rape case and three indecent assault cases, as well as sentencing of the rapist to 24 years' imprisonment.

SIP Haley has gained his commendation with his performance whilst serving as SIP Occupational Safety and Health, Support Branch, Support Wing during the fight against the Atypical Pneumonia outbreak between March and May 2003.

SSGT Chung and PC Choy have been commended for neutralising a highly organised and notorious triad gang in Yuen Long and the successful prosecution of 20 triad members for various triad and criminal offences.
