Squash championship concludes with resounding success

In promoting healthy lifestyle initiatives, the showcase Police Squash Club Closed Championship 2004 stayed the finals at Police Officers' Club (POC) on May 27 with resounding success, giving participants, squash enthusiasts and visitors alike most memorable experience.

The Police Closed Championship title went to Police top seed player, Police Constable Carven Ng of Security Wing, who defeated Senior Inspector Simon Lau of Kowloon City Division in a tied 3 - 1 match.

In what must have been the most exciting Chairman's Cup final, Police Constable Chan Kwok-ming of Aberdeen Division exceeded expectations to reach the final and overpowered Station Sergeant Nelson Chiu of Traffic New Territories North in straight 3 - 0 match.

In the prize presentation ceremony, Vice Chairman Peter Barnes also presented the Player of the Year Award to Senior Detective Police Constable Li Kin-wah of Regional Crime Unit Hong Kong Island in recognition of his tremendous success, hard work and sportsmanship over the year.

Any officers who wish to join the Police Squash Team may either attend the training sessions at POC between 1 pm and 3 pm every Saturday or contact SGT Leung Chi-man at 9622-2609.
