Notification of results of investigations of crime and miscellaneous reports
1. After the Court has made a decision in a trial or whenever enquiries have ceased, the complainants and victims of crime and all miscellaneous reports shall be formally notified of the investigation results.
2. If the Department of Justice decides not to take out prosecution, the Director of Public Prosecutions will inform the crime victim in writing.
3. Whenever a complainant or victim is informed of the result of an investigation, an entry to this effect shall be made in the file, and a duplicate of the letter shall be kept in the file.
4. At the conclusion of an investigation arising from a complaint letter or information received, the complainant or informant shall be informed of the investigation result in writing, provided the identity of the informant or complainant is known.
5. Where it is anticipated that a reply cannot be made within 10 days of receipt of a letter from a member of the public, an interim reply should be sent, and an entry to this effect should be made on the letter received.
