PTU headquarters' "Matilda Hospital Sedan Chair" Racing Team is this year trying to retain the champion title, which it recaptured from the Hong Kong Bank last year. At the same time the team is desperately trying to raise sponsorship money.
This key charity event is taking place at the Matilda Hospital, Mount Kellet Road, The Peak, at 10 am on Sunday, November 14.
The event enters its 30th anniversary this year, and since its inception over $30 million has been raised for Hong Kong's charities. The race forms the focal point for a bazaar, which is entertaining and enjoyable.
This gruelling event requires a team of eight persons to carry a sedan chair, with a "live" person in it, around a 3.2 km course. It provides an opportunity for everyone to help a large number of worthy causes.
Force members wishing to sponsor the team may send cheques payable to "Matilda Charities Fund" and forward them to Chief Inspector Ian Strange at PTU HQ.
More details about the race and the charities involved are available from the website www.sedanchairace.org.
