The Junior Police Officers' Association (JPOA) held its 27th Anniversary and 16th Inauguration Ceremony at Hong Kong International Trade & Exhibition Centre, Kowloon Bay, on October 27.

Hundreds of guests witnessed all executive committee members and regional representatives, led by JPOA Chariman, Mr Lau Kam-wah, taking the oath of office.

The Vice-Chairman of the Police Science Society of China, Mr Zhu Entao, Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai, and JPOA's Founder President & Hon. Legal Advisor, Miss Maria Tam Wai-chu, delivered speeches during the inauguration ceremony.

Mr Zhu praised the Association's achievement in fostering exchanges with its Mainland counterparts, and encouraged the Association to continue making contribution to the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong.

Mr Lee praised frontline officers, majority being JPOA members, for providing quality services in a positive and professional manner despite challenges of various nature in recent years. He also called on the Association to work in partnership with the management to maintain the Force as one of the leading professional law-enforcement agencies in the world and Hong Kong as "one of the world's safest cities".

As Founder President, Miss Tam was very delighted to see the Association developing from strength to strength over the years. She echoed Mr Zhu's appeal that the Association should continue to contribute to the good of Hong Kong, apart from safeguarding the welfare of members.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by a banquet in which guests and members were treated to various stage performances, including those by the Police Band and Police Children Choir.
