Women police officers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao got together in Hong Kong for three days late last month to discuss new developments in policing work and matters of common concern, and to share work experiences.

Leading delegations of women police officers to the "4th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Women Police Officers Exchange Meeting" were Cao Muzhen from Guangdong, New Territories South Regional Commander Bonnie Smith and Cheong Han from Macao.

"Domestic violence" was one of the main themes for this year's exchange meeting. A talk was held to explore the problem, with speakers from the three delegations discussing matters of common concern, sharing observations and experiences about their respective strategies, enforcement work and preventive education to tackle the problem. Attendants felt that the talk had achieved the objective of learning from each other, and would greatly benefit their work to address the problem.

In view of the changes in police hierarchy in recent years, another talk was held to introduce the latest police organisation structures in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to enhance better understanding among officers from the three places.

As Force members' contacts with their counterparts are becoming more frequent, the talk was open to all Force members with over 200 officers attending. Contents of the talk will be uploaded on POINT in due course.

On the last day of the exchange meeting, the Guangdong and Macao delegates visited the Airport District at Chak Lap Kok to see officers of the Airport Security Unit (ASU) at work. They were all very impressed with the officers' performance and the various facilities of the Force.
