The Management Committees of the Central Fund and the Family Protection Fund have passed resolutions on members' monthly contribution rate. The resolutions came into effect on January 1, 2005, and the details are as follows:

The monthly contribution rate for Central Fund members will remain unchanged at $48.4. The contribution will cover the annual insurance premium and a member's non-insurance benefits, including a retirement souvenir and a special grant of $5,000 to the spouse or dependants after the passing away of a retired member.

The monthly contribution rate for Family Protection Fund members will be adjusted to $50. Starting from 2005, Family Protection Fund will provide a special grant, same as that of Central Fund, to its retired members. Family Protection Fund members, who have joined the Fund for five years or more and are contributors to the Fund at the time of retirement, will be entitled to a special grant of $5,000 for their spouses or dependants upon their passing away.

With a new 18-month insurance contract obtained by PS&SR Branch, the two Funds will maintain the same level of protection to their members from 2005 till June 2006, i.e. $500,000 for life insurance for total and permanent disability.
