Fifty members of the Force, led by Chief Superintendent (Headquarters Crime) Wong Pak-nin, were among the 120-strong government contingent that left for Phuket, Thailand, on December 30 to search for Hong Kong citizens and assist those stranded in areas affected by the recent tsunamis. Other members of the team come from Immigration Department, Civil Aid Service, Auxiliary Medical Service and Department of Health. Seeing the contingent off at the airport was Secretary for Security Ambrose S K Lee, who, on behhalf of the Chief Executive and Chief Secretary for Administration, thanked members of the contingent for their dedication to serving the community. "As the Chief Executive has said, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will do everything possible to offer assistance to affected Hong Kong citizens and to arrange for them to return home as early as possible. "I firmly believe that all of you will accomplish this most important task with professionalism," Mr Lee told the team members before their departure.
