Over 30 officers from Border District were among a party of disciplined services staff who attended a tea reception given by Chief Secretary for Administration Donald Tsang at his residence last month in appreciation of their hard work at the Lok Ma Chau, Lo Wu, Man Kam To and Sha Tak Kok Boundary Control Points.

The BORDIST officers were led by Border District Commander Fung Kwok-on and Chief Inspector (Operations) Lam King-kong.

At the reception, Mr Tsang highly praised disciplined services officers for displaying professionalism whilst controlling the thousands of travellers and vehicles crossing the boundary control points everyday. He noted that implementation of the "24-hour Boundary-Crossing Operation", "Individual Visit Scheme" and "CEPA" had given rise to a big increase in the numbers of travellers and vehicles crossing the control points.

"Yet in the face of the double pressures brought about by increasingly heavy workload and the need to save resources, our colleagues stationed at the various boundary control points are steadfastly displaying a high standard of work to ensure free and smooth flows across the control points," he noted.

Mr Tsang also spoke highly of Border District officers' crime prevention work at the control points, and attributed the safe and orderly traffic in travellers and vehicles to their efforts in maintaining law and order.

Lastly, the Chief Secretary encouraged the officers to further display their professionalism by continuing to provide quality services to both Mainland visitors and local residents.

BORDIST officers have also been commended for their crime prevention effort
