Members of the Force's Athletic Association were beaten by a world champion by merely 15 seconds in a charity run up the International Finance Centre in Central on New Year Day.

Skyscraper run champion and record-holder Paul Crake from Australia completed the run in 12 minutes. The third place went to the Fire Services team, which clocked 12 minutes 17 seconds.

Teams from the disciplined forces and several organisations, including Government Flying Service, Correctional Services Department, Civil Aid Service, the University of Hong Kong and performing artistes, had taken part in the race, which was sponsored by the Lions Clubs District 303, Hong Kong & Macao to raise funds for tsunami victims.

The fund-raiser has boosted donations to the victims by $2.5 million.

Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang King-shing kicked off the race and later officiated at the prize presentation.
