More new records were set at the annual Police Track and Field Athletics Championships, which were held with great success at the Wanchai Sports Ground last month.

Mild drizzling throughout the day provided comfortable coolness for the athletes in this early summer event, which attracted participation by nearly 250 officers and civilian staff.

Sergeant Wong Ming-chung from Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQ) broke the record of 800M (Senior) to return home in 2 minutes and 12.20 seconds and Woman Senior Inspector Ng Wing-see broke the record of Discus (Woman) with a result of 27.06M.

Police Constable Cheng Chi-man of Airport District won the award of Victor Ludorum and Woman Police Constable Yiu Ming-chu of PTU KE the Victrix Ludorum.

Sergeant Leung Yat of PTU HQ and Sergeant To Hau-ping of Kwun Tong District scored exactly the same point in competing for the award of Carpe Diem Bowl.

PTU HQ won the Specialist / Training Units Championship whilst Commercial Crime Bureau won the "Other Formations Championship" for the third consecutive year.

Other results and photographs are available on the Police Athletics Club website at www.hkpac.com.

The success of this annual event was due, in no small measure, to the assistance rendered by a team of volunteers drawn from officers and the Police Football Referee Association. For the first year, the Hong Kong Amateur Athletics Association provided a team of event judges to assist in conducting all field competitions.
