A total of 41 Recruit Police Constables (Auxiliary), comprising 27 men and 14 women, passed out last month after completing a 30-week (320 hours) basic training course. Taking salute at the passing-out parade was Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force Commandant, Mr Kwok Chi-shun.

PCs (A) Alvin Ho and Chen Fuk-lai have been awarded the Silver Whistle.

Among the auxiliary constables are medical doctors, social workers and teachers. They had attended their basic training on two evenings per week at the Auxiliary HQ, in addition to special training on Sundays.

CIP TRG AUX SUP, Mr Lo Kam-tim, said the auxiliary constables' basic training course is similar to that of their regular counterparts, with emphasis on laws, police duties and procedures, weapons and firearms training, crowd management, key point protection and station defence. The other subjects are the Road Traffic Ordinance, evidence and court procedures, beat patrol skills, tactics training and foot drill.
