A new silver mace was presented to the Police Band when the annual Display of the Mace Ceremony was held at the Police Training School on June 15 in memory of the late Sir Shiu Kin Tang.

Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai accepted the new mace from Sir Shiu Kin's son, Richard, on behalf of the Police Band. Featuring a dragon, the new mace will be used by the Silver Band.

The existing mace, which has been used by the Bagpipe Band since 1987, was donated by Sir Shiu Kin as a token of his close relationship with the Force.

Officiating at the ceremony, Mr Lee reminisced the late philanthropist's contributions to police staff welfare and thanked his family for their continued support, in the presence of Sir Shiu Kin's widow, Lady May, and daughter, Yvonne.

A minute's silence was observed before Lady May was presented with a bouquet. The Police Band was also in attendance.
