Force athletes pitted their physique against the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the Hong Kong Garrison at an annual sports exchange at the PLA Stonecutters Island Naval Base on June 18. Led by Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang King-shing and Director of Operations Yam Tat-wing, Force players took on the PLA in soccer and table tennis. Leading the PLA teams were PLA Commander Lieutenant General Wang Jitang, Deputy Commander Major General Dong Wenjiu and Deputy Political Commissar Major General Li Wenchao. The friendly competition was kicked off after a group-photo session and torrential rain did not dampen the spirit of all the players. The high spirit of Force players was rewarded with a landslide victory over the PLA in table tennis with a score of 6 - 1. In soccer, they lost to the PLA by 3 -5. The event concluded with the Commissioner and PLA Commander presenting prizes to the winners. The PLA prepared two crystal trophies for the winning teams to commission this and subsequent years' annual sports exchanges. This meaningful sports exchange is testimony to the excellent co-operation between the two forces and marks a milestone in fostering relationship.
