Disciplined Services Overtime Allowance (DSOA)

Question: "I am DSGT Cheung working in District Crime Squad. It is now the 1st of September. I had 20 hours of accrued overtime balance by the end of July, and I have earned a further 10 hours of overtime in August. Can I now be granted DSOA to recompense for all 30 hours of my overtime balance?"

Answer: Subject to funding and eligibility for DSOA, DSGT Cheung may now be granted DSOA to recompense 20 hours of overtime, which were accrued up to the end of July. Under the 30-day rule, the overtime earned in the previous month should be as far as possible compensated by time-off-in-lieu within 30 days. Only when this is not possible may DSOA be considered. It would normally not be appropriate to grant DSOA for the 10 hours of overtime earned in the previous month. If DSGT Cheung's commander is satisfied that it is not possible to grant him time off within 30 days, DSOA will be granted.
