Senior Inspector Mark Hayman from Police Tactical Unit Headquarters has won a scholarship jointly offered by the South China Morning Post and the Henley Management College in the UK to study a MBA course at the college's Hong Kong Office, setting a good example of lifelong learning through continuous self-development.

At a presentation ceremony held at the Hong Kong Office of the college, SIP Hayman received the $165,000 scholarship from the General Manager of the Hong Kong Office, Ms Veronica Chan, on September 28.

SIP Hayman, together with another winner from a local bank, has been selected from eight finalists, who were short listed from 65 applicants for the scholarship.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the SCM Post's Classified Advertising Director, Ms Grace Fung, pointed out that the judging panel had a hard time selecting the winners because the participants' qualities were "very competitive". She said the winners would fully equip themselves through the MBA course and step further in their career ladders.

SIP Hayman later told OffBeat that he was very pleased to have won "this very useful and well recognised" MBA course. "I'm very happy for myself because it'll be a good chance to learn more from outside people and get some good skills for long-term strategic planning and the aim for promotion. I think it'll be very useful, and will give me some ideas I can use for the day-to-day jobs," he added.
