Over 100 Marine Region staff members gave a total of 40,000ml of blood at Marine Headquarters (MAR HQ) on September 27, setting a record for MAR HQ. Under the leadership of Marine Regional Commander Au Hok-lam, many officers and civilian staff members rolled up their sleeves for a worthy cause.

Probationary Inspectors from Course 486 were visiting MAR HQ when the blood donation was underway. With the encouragement of their instructors, five of them readily offered their support. "It's very special for me to start donating blood here in the MAR HQ. I hope I can be a life saver and I will definitely continue donating blood regularly after I've left the Police Training School," said WPI Chan Chi-on.

Applauding all those who donated blood or provided logistical support for the donation, Mr Au told them: "Your generosities are sincerely appreciated."

Mrs Rosalind Green, Senior Donor Recruitment Officer of Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, later wrote to Mr Au to express her heartfelt thanks to all the donors.
