The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island Region (RCPO HKI) carried out a multi-lingual publicity campaign to prevent "quick cash crimes" last month, targeting local residents but also visitors, tourist and foreign workers in Hong Kong.

RCPO HKI mounted the campaign at Statue Square, Victoria Park and the vicinity of the Sugar Street in Causeway Bay, with police vehicles broadcasting an appeal to take good care of personal belongings. Targeting foreign workers in Hong Kong, the appeal was also driven home in Thai, Filipino, Sri Lankan, Indian, Indonesian and Nepalese languages, with the assistance of non-governmental organisations.

And for the benefit of the workers, visitors and tourists, RCPO HKI has printed publicity leaflets in different foreign languages, including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Philippine and Indonesian. These were distributed with the assistance of volunteer workers from the Police Old Comrades Association, which has pledged full support for police crime prevention efforts.

The association will further assist RCPO HKI with similar activities in the year to come.
