Question: "I am Inspector Kong of Ho Man Tin Police Station, living in Departmental Married Quarters. I want to apply for the Home Financing Scheme (HFS) to purchase a property. What are the formalities and restrictions?"

Answer: Eligible Inspectorate police officer who joined the Force before June 1,2000 with a salary point at PPS 36 or above can apply for the HFS. He or she can first download the Initial Application TRY HFS 2(02) and the Declaration on Public Housing Benefits TRY CSH 7(02) from the website of the Treasury and then submit the completed forms to the Quartering Division for processing. About three weeks later, the Treasury will issue an approval-in-principle, then he or she can acquire a property in Hong Kong within one year and submit a Formal Application TRY HFS 3(05). If the officer needs to obtain a down payment loan, he or she should also send the Agreement Form for Repayment of Down Payment Loan TRY HFS 5(05) with the sale and purchase agreement and the bank mortgage documents to the Quartering Division for processing.
