The Psychological Services Group (PSG) will hold the first "Balances and Wisdom" (B&W) seminar in 2006, entitled "Perspectives of Problem Gambling", in the PHQ Auditorium on February 18 (Saturday), starting at 10 am.

Three speakers will analyse problem gambling from different professional perspectives with emphasis on the recent trends of problem gambling in Hong Kong, in particular soccer and internet gambling, and how policing may have affected gambling behaviours. The community approach and medical approach in treating problem gambling will also be discussed, with illustration of real cases.

Learning and applying history

Meanwhile, PSG is going to team up with the Police History Club and Hong Kong Polytechnic University to organise its 2nd B&W seminar in 2006, entitled "Three Thousand Years of Chinese Wisdom - Learning and Application from History". It will be held on March 11 (Saturday) between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm at the same venue.

CSP CS&D Tsang Choi-on gave a splendid presentation on the contemporary application of Chinese wisdom in the last B&W seminar in November 2005. The audience was so enthusiastic about the presentation that PSG has invited Mr Tsang again to give another presentation. His forthcoming talk will focus on the application of Chinese wisdom in inter-personal relationship and parenting.

Those interested may call Mrs Sit on 2866-1992 during office hours or contact PSG by PEN at psg-gr@police.gov.hk for registration.
