Senior Force Welfare Officer Wong Wai-cheun from Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch received the Award on behalf of the Force during a ceremony held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 13. At the ceremony, some 1,500 invited guests joined the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, in celebrating the fruition of the partnership among government departments, business and social service sector.

Last October the Force submitted an entry to the Caring Company & Caring Organisation 2005/06 Logo Nomination campaign run by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, under the Caring Company Logo category. The Caring Organisation Award was introduced to recognise those government departments, statutory bodies, clubs and associations, chambers of commerce, professional bodies and educational institutions, which are demonstrating a spirit of care. The campaign attracted the participation of 15 government departments.

The Force submitted an application to show that it has satisfied most of the following six criteria:

Volunteering : Encouraging and supporting employee volunteering, Family-friendly : Providing a family-friendly and gender-sensitive environment for employees, Employing Vulnerable : Willing to employ the vulnerable groups, Partnering : Developing partnership projects with the social service sector, Mentoring : Sharing business expertise with social service organisations, and Giving : Donating or giving in-kind to the community.
