PAC takes hiking and indoor rowing titles

A Police Adventure Club (PAC) team narrowly beat 2005 champions Fire Services Department to take the 50-km Disciplinary Force Category title at the 13th Green Power Hike 2006 last month. The team, comprising SIP Chan Kin-kwok, EO Lam Ka-wai, SGT Ng Cheuk-yin, and PC Leung Wai-ho, completed their event in five hours and 33 minutes, with Fire Services Department and Immigration Department trailing in second and third places respectively.

PAC fielded two teams in the annual competition to help the Green Power to raise funds to support environmental education in Hong Kong, and raised $10,000 for the cause.

Meanwhile on the same day, another PAC team took three gold medals and a silver medal in the Hong Kong Open Indoor Rowing Competition. The gold medals were for Men 4x500 m relay (Sports Club), Ladies 4x500 m relay (Sports Club) and Women Open 2,000 m (Open Individuals), while the silver medal for Men Open 2,000 m (Open Individual). The team also ranked 10th in the overall standing of the competition.

The team is now preparing for the next World Police & Fire Games to be held in Australia in 2007. The team will select candidates in August, and those interested in the selection test may contact Team Manager Paul Yeung on 2666-4686.
