Over 160 officers attended a seminar on "Cannabis", organised by the Narcotics Bureau (NB) and Government Laboratory at the PHQ Multi-purpose Hall last month. The third lecture of a training series, the seminar covered the trends of abuse, various types of products and cases sharing on cultivation.

In his opening address, CSP NB Peter Else emphasised that his bureau was committed to raising officers' awareness of illicit drugs and working closely with Regions and Districts in tackling drugs trafficking and abuse. He hoped that the seminar would enlighten officers on cannabis, and enhance their professional knowledge.

At the seminar, the talks by Dr Lee Wai-kit and Dr Lee Wing-sze, both from the Government Laboratory, drew a spontaneous response from the audience, with many practical questions raised at the Q&A session. Most of the audience regarded the talks very informative and useful because the talks not only made them more knowledgeable on cannabis, but also provided useful tips in dealing with the cultivation scenes.

NB SP (Intelligence) Alfred Cheung Wing-fai concluded the seminar by extending special thanks to the two speakers and the audience for their support for the event. To further enhance communication and knowledge sharing, NB will continue to organise more similar seminars in the near future. The presentation material of this seminar will be uploaded to NB's website on the POINT.
