Edgar leads team home with 10 medals |

As captain of the Hong Kong Shooting Team, Superintendent (Auxiliary) Edgar Yang brought two gold, six silver, and two bronze medals for Hong Kong at the recent 30th South East Asia Shooting Championships held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from July 2 to 9. Of these 10 medals, Police shooters have won five.
"The temperature in the indoor shooting range was six degrees higher than the outdoor temperature of about 34 Apart from serving as the team captain, Edgar needed to compete in the Men's 25m Standard Pistol and Centre Fire events. In the first event, he took the Standard Pistol Team Silver with Sergeant Lee Siu-wah, his Assistant Captain, and Wong Fai, the gold medalist of this event in the Macau East Asian Games last year. In the Centre Fire event, Edgar secured the eighth ranking with a score of 563, the highest the Hong Kong team had made in international competitions in the past five years. Woman Police Constable (Auxiliary) Lo Ka-kay, Hong Kong representative in the 2004 Athens Olympic, struck back in her 10m Air Pistol event, winning an Individual Silver and Team Silver, both of which will boost her confidence for two upcoming World shooting competitions before the closing of the shooting calendar this year. Applause should also go to Woman Police Constable Lui Siu-chong for securing the seventh ranking in the Women's 25m Sport Pistol event, with a score of 564, the second highest the Hong Kong team had made in the past five years. Last but not least, Woman Chief Inspector Cheung Tin-yee also nabbed the Bronze in the Women's Double Trap event. Besides their overwhelming success, the winners have also gained the compliments of the Sport Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, which has strongly recommended making shooting an event in the 2009 East Asian Games in Hong Kong. Edgar, Lee Siu-wah and Lo Ka-kay will face more challenges from international shooters at the World's Shooting Championships in Croatia.
