The Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cambodian National Police (CNP) last month, taking another step forward in enhancing international co-operation in combating transnational crimes. Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai and Commissioner General Hok Lundy of CNP signed the MOU, with a view to sharing experiences and best practices in countering terrorism, drug trafficking and human smuggling. The MOU not only signifies better co-operation and working relationship with CNP, but also manifests the Force's strategic direction for fostering closer working relationships and co-operation with the international law enforcement community. During the Signing Ceremony, Mr Lee expressed his gratitude to Commissioner General Hok for making his trip to Hong Kong. He said: "For the Hong Kong Police (HKP), the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cambodian National Police and the Hong Kong Police is the first of its kind in the context of combating transnational crimes. Indeed, it signifies an important milestone in the history of Hong Kong Police." In response, Commissioner General Hok extended his profound thanks to Mr Lee for making the MOU a reality. He then pledged, "After this signing ceremony and returning home, I will notify my Police Force at all levels and make sure that the co-operation between the two Police Forces will become closer and more effective from day to day, especially in the fight against transnational crimes." The Signing Ceremony took place at Police Headquarters and was witnessed by Mr Thay Vanne, the Consul-General of the Royal Consulate General of Cambodia in Hong Kong, and other senior officers from HKP and CNP. |
