For the first time, Junior Police Call (JPC) members took part in Singapore's Youth National Challenge Camp held at the Pasir Laba Camp last month. Meeting 1,200 youths from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand at the camp and sharing the fun of a variety of activities were eight JPC members from Kowloon City, led by Kowloon City District Police Community Relations Officer Wan Yiu-fat and Woman Sergeant Kwok Yee-no, Secondary School Liaison Office.

During the four-day gathering, the JPC members gained valuable experiences and friendship through stone-climbing, canoeing, water sports, shooting, archery, model plane flying, mountain cycling, outdoors cooking and some military training.

The primary objectives of this biannual gathering for youths aged 15 are character building and promotion of co-operation. It was graced by the attendance of the President of Singapore, Mr S R Nathan.

The event ended with a large-scale campfire, and by the time to say good-bye, the JPC members had made many new friends and gained a lifetime experience.
