A delegation of 20 public security officers from Guangdong last month attended a five-day study course titled "Anti-narcotics Strategy and Tactics" co-ordinated by the Narcotics Bureau (NB). Conducted at the Police College, the course is the first ever organised for Mainland Narcotics Commanders.

The content of the study course included the Government's strategy of combatting dangerous drugs, the drug trend in Hong Kong, intelligence-led operations, operational planning, surveillance techniques, financial investigation and exhibit handling.

During the course, the delegates visited the Narcotics Division's Drug Information Centre at Admiralty.

The delegation was led by Mr Deng Jianwei, Deputy Director, Narcotics Control Bureau, Public Security Department, Guangdong.

Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Lee Ka-chiu presented certificates to the delegates at a graduation ceremony on September 15. In his closing speech, Mr Lee said that the course would boost mutual understanding and experience sharing among the narcotics officers in Guangdong and Hong Kong, besides benefitting the battle against illegal drug trafficking in the two places.
