Quality service for car owners

Here is another example of quality service to the public. A "One-stop-shop" service was introduced on October 1 for vehicle owners to reclaim their cars impounded at the Police Vehicle Pounds in Quarry Bay, Ho Man Tin or Siu Ho Wan.

Now vehicle owners pay up and reclaim their cars at Police Vehicle Pounds

Prior to this new service, vehicle owners paid towing and storage fees at one of the five Accident Investigation Report Rooms before being issued a receipt for collecting their vehicles at one of the vehicle pounds. Now they pay up and collect their cars at the vehicle pounds.

The "one-stop-shop" service was tried out at the Ho Man Tin Vehicle Pound in 2005, and this pilot scheme was so successful that the Steering Committee on Force Service Quality subsequently endorsed a recommendation that consideration be given to extend the "one-stop-shop" service to the two other vehicle pounds.

The recommendation was carried out after a Working Group comprising officers from Traffic Branch Headquarters, Information Systems Wing and all traffic formations had further examined the pilot scheme.

As another service enhancement to vehicle owners, a written notice reminding them to reclaim their vehicles before they are liable to pay storage fee, will be issued as soon as a vehicle has been detained in a vehicle pound.
