IPCC members visit CPPU

Three members of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), Dr Charles Koo Ming-yan, Mr Edward Pong Chong, and Mrs Helena Yuen Chan Suk-yee, accompanied by the Secretary of IPCC, Mrs Brenda Fung, took a close look at the work of the Child Protection Policy Unit (CPPU) at Crime Wing Headquarters on September 13.

After being met by Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Lee Ka-chiu at CPPU, the IPPC members heard a briefing given by SP Crime Support Irene Ho Yuen-ha on the latest improvement measures being implemented Forcewide for handling and investigating domestic violence cases, and watched a demonstration on the operation of the "Central Domestic Violence DatabaseÓ by CIP CPPU Queenie Wong Siu-hing.

Accompanying the IPCC members on the visit were Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Wong Doon-yee, Complaints and Internal Investigations Branch (C&IIB) Chief Superintendent Fan Sik-ming, Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) Senior Superintendent John Ribeiro and SP CAPO HQ Kwok Yam-shu. The visit was organised by C&IIB as part of a programme for IPCC members to understand better the difficulties officers face in frontline policing.
