As part of its priority to enhance training on Mainland policing matters, the Force has been sending officers to attend the Chinese People's Public Security University (PSU) Study Programme in Beijing since April 2001. So far, over 400 officers have attended this eye-opening and meaningful programme. With a view to maintaining the momentum of the study programme and strengthening the relationship between the programme participants and PSU, the "Hong Kong Police Delegation for Chinese People's Public Security University Study Programme Alumni Association" (briefly known as HKP-PSU Alumni) was formally registered on August 1, this year after two months of intensive preparation.
"We've had great support from both the Force management and many of our colleagues to make the establishment of the Alumni possible," said Chairman of the Alumni - Yuen Long District Commander Ellick Tsang. He is confident that members of the past delegations and other Force members would continue to support the Alumni's activities. "The major objectives of the HKP-PSU Alumni are to act as a bridge between the PSU and members of past delegations, organise cultural, social and recreational activities for members, promote fellowship among members, and contribute to the integration and interaction between Hong Kong and the Mainland," Mr Tsang added. The Alumni organised its first gathering, a BBQ night at PSRC, for members on September 30 when officers from different delegations shared experiences and enjoyed a wonderful evening. The Alumni is now planning to hold its inauguration ceremony at the Multi-Purpose Hall in PHQ at 3 pm on November 8. Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai and the President of the Chinese People's Public Security University are expected to officiate at the ceremony. Senior officials of the Liaison Office of the Chinese People's Government (LOCPG) and the China Police Association have been invited to attend the ceremony, while individual invitation letters have been sent to all ex-participants of the PSU Study Programme. Other Force members are also welcomed to join the Alumni as an associate member and attend the ceremony.
