A total of 38 officers recently attended a Facilitation and Team Building Skills Train-the-trainer Course conducted at the Police Officers' Club by the Learning and Development Support Centre of the Police College.

The three-day course aims at equipping Training and Staff Relations Officers and formation training teams with the skills of carrying out the training role as stated in FPM 52-15 "Training Day". During the course, participants were taught the theory of facilitation, importance of teamwork and methods of building up an effective team. Apart from theory, all participants practised the skills of facilitation and team building through a series of exercises. Different training methods and material were used throughout the course, including facilitation, group exercise, discussion, and training videos.

At the end of their training, the participants commented favourably on the course, particularly on the team building skills, which they said were extremely useful and effective for building a good team at their workplaces.

The course was held for the first time since 2004. The course trainers are Superintendent Leung Ka-mei, Force Training Officer Training Days and Psychological Competency, Senior Inspector Lin Po-yin, SIP Training Days, and Station Sergeant Ma Hung-cheung, SSGT Training Days. They have been joined by two officers recently transferred to the Police College, Superintendent Cheung Kam-chuen and Chief Inspector Lo Kam-tim who have taken up the posts of Force Training Officer Social Study and Assistant Force Training Officer Training Projects respectively.
