The Police Public Relations Branch launched the "Junior Police Call (JPC) Leadership and Management Training Project" on November 23, with sponsorship by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK). Speaking at the launching ceremony, Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai said: "The project trains JPC members in leadership, management skills and personal development. It is aimed at helping them develop their potential and equips them to contribute to the prosperity and stability of society with the Police." The aim of the project is in line with JPC's objectives: helping young people develop a sense of justice, instilling positive values into them and preparing them to become future leaders. Also speaking at the ceremony, Mr He Guangbei, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of BOCHK, said: "Talents are the cornerstone of social and economic development. While undertaking the obligation of maintaining social order and ensuring the safety of citizens, the Hong Kong Police Force is dedicated to nurturing the new generation by encouraging them to lead a positive life. This is indeed an act of vision. "We are pleased to be involved in this training project because both BOCHK and the Police share a common mission of 'nurturing the talents'. We are therefore eager to contribute our small part to this. I hope that with this comprehensive and systematic training programme, our younger generations will be able to become future excellent leaders and managers." The training project will provide 161 classes for more than 6,400 participants in the coming two years, covering diverse areas from problem solving, communication skills and presentation skills to self-management and financial management. Besides the project, the JPC has been organising courses on police knowledge and personal development for its members since September.
