Officers praised over ferry incident
Accompanied by HKI Regional Commander Hung Hak-wai and Central District (CDIST) Commander Wong Chi-hung, Mr Lee told the officers that he was impressed with the professionalism, tact, tolerance and patience they showed whilst being confronted by uncooperative protestors. He also wished officers slightly injured during the encounter a speedy recovery.
The HKI formations involved in operations to deal with the protests and demonstrations were CDIST, PTU E Company, HKI Emergency Unit, HKI Traffic and HKI Regional Crime Unit.
Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai went to Hong Kong Island (HKI) Regional Headquarters on December 22 to personally pass on his compliments to officers from HKI, Police Tactical Unit (PTU) "Delta" Company from Kowloon East and PTU "Bravo" Company from Kowloon West for their exemplary performance in handling protests and demonstrations over the demolition of the old Star Ferry Pier and the Clock Tower.
