A record 28,300 kilograms of clothing and other items were collected during the Force Warm Clothing Collection Campaign 2006, which was jointly organised by the Force and the Salvation Army, with support from staff associations, PMQ Residents' Associations and Co-operative Societies and the Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps.

Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Tang Kam-moon handed over a bag of clothing to Lieu-Colonel Alfred Tsang, Officer Commanding the Salvation Army Hong Kong & Macao Command, at a Handover Ceremony of the donated clothing and items at POC. In return, Mr Tsang presented the Collection Record to Mr Tang as well as souvenirs to representatives from the participating groups in appreciation of their support and efforts.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tsang expressed his gratitude to Force members for their support and participation, which, he said, had greatly benefited the needy in the community, while Mr Tang encouraged Force members to continue participating in community events to bring care and concern to the community.

Owing to the big support by Force members and their families over the years, the Warm Clothing Collection Campaign will be extended to a year-long project with the Salvation Army throughout 2007. The collection exercise will begin on February 1 at the collection points set up at PSRC; POC; Chai Wan, Tsing Yi, Sheung Shui and Yuen Long PMQs; Wong Tai Sin, Shun Lee, Sau Mau Ping, Ngau Chi Wan, West Kowloon and Lai King DSQs as well as Yau Mei Court and Ko Cheung Court Police Quarters.

Force members are urged to give their greatest support to this worthwhile cause. For enquires, contact FWO WS 2 Wong Lai-bing at 2860-6290 or e-mail: fwo-ws-2-welfare@police.gov.hk
