It is one of the Force Values that we accept responsibility and accountability. To bring supervisory accountability home to frontline supervisors and sharpen their supervisory skills, the Police College has produced a new e-learning package on the subject for Sergeants and Station Sergeants.

The e-learning package, accessible from the Learning Portal of the Police College homepage on POINT, has been designed mainly to help newly-promoted Sergeants and Station Sergeants get a good grasp of the concepts of "Supervisory Accountability" through self-learning and discussion and self-reflection on the case studies in classroom.

The package provides officers with an additional option to supplement the Sergeant and Station Sergeant Promotion Courses and the Sergeant 5th Year Development Course on this subject undertaken by the JPO Development Learning Division. The 40-minute interactive e-learning package in Chinese has been divided into four parts: "Upon appointment", "What should I do?" "What should I pay attention to?" and lastly four case studies for discussion.

The feedback from trainees on this e-learning package has been positive and favourable since its implementation early this year. With the assistance of the package, trainees will have more effective classroom discussion on the topic. The package would also be a useful tool for frontline commanders or Training and Staff Relations Officers running focus groups for Sergeants and Station Sergeants within their formations to maximise the benefits of this package on "Supervisory Accountability". Nevertheless, officers are encouraged to use the e-learning package as a reference for their day-to-day work.
