Weight Training is a form of exercise, which provides significant benefits through exercising on different kinds of weight, such as dumbbell, barbell, weight training machine or even one's body weight. The technique involves progressively increasing the resistance or weight load of the specific muscle groups. There are three kinds of muscular training: 1) Muscular strength and power; 2) Muscular endurance; and 3) The increase of lean body tissue and body size. Most people make use of weight training to improve their body posture, such as reducing body weight by burning fat, building body weight by pumping up muscle mass and also enhancing the tone and shape of their muscles. Different types of weight training will have different effects on our bodies, for instance, improving performance in sports, building stronger bones and preventing osteoporosis, etc. Mr Sam Li, Coach of the Hong Kong Bodybuilding Team, will be introducing a series of Weight Training focusing on general knowledge, basic training principles and safety precautions, as well as exercise techniques.
