The first ever Force Library Open Day held on March 29 and 30 on 7th Floor, Arsenal House, PHQ, was a great success, attracting a large number of visitors on both days. Many were coming for the first time and took the opportunity to register on the spot as borrowing readers. The Force Library is grateful for the support for its Open Day. Meanwhile, the Force Library provides the answers to the quiz held in connection with its Open Day as follows: Q 1: Find a book published in 2005 about how to handle hostage and crisis negotiations for the police. Ans: 驚濤歲月中的香港黑社會/廖子明著,孫衛忠譯. 香港:網上電子出版有限公司. 索書號:HV 6453 LZM. Q5: Find a "Research Document" from the library catalogue on, among other things, job satisfaction in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force. Ans: "Organisational climate and job satisfaction in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force" by Chiu Wai-yin Winnie in 1993. Force Library call number: C087. Q6: Who wrote the article, "Crime Scene Investigation" within "Encyclopaedia of Law Enforcement" appearing in "Criminal Justice eCollection" subset - "Gale Virtual Reference Library" and how many pages was the original article? Ans: Peter De Forest and the number of pages is six. The Force Library reminds users that its Knowledge Update service on crime and management will be available on the Force NoticeBoard on a monthly basis and on the Knowledge Management (KM) Portal on POINT for current and back files. An announcement to this effect will be made on the Force NoticeBoard in due course. Extended opening hours at College Library To provide better services to readers, the College Library on G/F, New Teaching Block, Police College, Aberdeen, has extended its opening hours, starting from April 30. The new opening hours are as follows: - Monday to Friday 8:30am - 6:30pm Saturday 8:30am - 4:30pm The new opening hours will provide an extra 19 hours of services to library users per week. Moreover, a new staff relieving arrangement will also enable library staff to fit into the five-day week pattern.
