In view of the increasing workload of the report room and the public's demand of quality services provided by the Force, it is of paramount importance that report room staff should be fully aware of their duties and responsibilities. To heighten their awareness of duties and responsibilities, particularly the Duty Officer, the Police College has produced a new Chinese e-learning package on the subject for Force members. It can now be accessed from the Learning Portal of the College's home page on POINT (http://point.hpf.gov.hk:8088/bbs/training/cbt/course/reportroom/index.htm). A CD version will be delivered to Training and Staff Relations Officers for distribution in due course.

The e-learning package has been mainly designed to help newly promoted Sergeants and Station Sergeants to get a good grasp of the concepts of "Taking Over a Report Room" through self-learning, games and scenarios based Q&A. It also includes two experience-sharing sessions by two very experienced Duty Officers. The whole package lasts for about 70 minutes and comprises five major parts with the themes on what a Duty Officer should do and which areas attention should be paid to.

This package provides officers with an additional option to supplement the Sergeant Promotion Course and Station Sergeant Promotion Course. Nevertheless, all officers are encouraged to use this e-learning package as a reference to their daily work.
