To support Kwai Tsing District Council's programme to promote safety and health in the District, Kwai Tsing Police District has formed a pool of 20 Health Ambassadors to organise recreational activities with different themes.

Being officers or civilian staff working in the District, the Health Ambassadors have devised 12 themes for the whole of 2007. The themes are Anti-smoking Campaign (Jan), Distant Running (Feb), Stress and Depression (Mar), General Health (Apr), Fitness Room (May), Anti-gambling Campaign (Jun), Swimming & other Aquatic Sports (Jul), Family Life (Aug), Music & Reading (Sept), Community Service (Oct), Hillwalk and Adventures (Nov), and Occupational Safety (Dec).

In the past few months, the Health Ambassadors organised different activities of different themes, including "Anti-smoking Slogan Design Competition", "Sharing Successful Stories to Quit Smoking", "Awards to Long Distance Runners", "Q. & A. Contest on Stress and Depression", and "Survey on Improvements to Fitness Rooms", etc. In April and May, they also invited the members of the HK Red Cross and nurses from the Community Resource Centre of Princess Margaret Hospital to provide body checks for staff at the station.

All those activities were organised with the aim of reminding officers to take good care of their health. To show his support and appreciation, District Commander Ip Lau-chuen presented letters of appointment to the Health Ambassadors and prizes to the winners of various contests on May 4.

The Health Ambassadors have a busy year ahead
