YTDIST engages community in fighting crime |

Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) fully recognises the importance of enlisting public support for fighting crime. To encourage more to come forward to help the police, it presented thank you souvenirs to five civic-minded citizens, the youngest being an eight-year-old boy, on April 23. The District was glad to find that its own efforts had not gone unrecognised by the local community when, at the same presentation ceremony, representatives from the Yau Tsim Mong South Area Committee, Owners' Incorporation of Chung King Mansions, and a jewellery shop in Yau Ma Tei presented banners and plaques to the District, in appreciation of officers' good work and efforts. On another occasion on May 4, Yau Tsim District Commander Chung Hung-fung led his officers and a group of primary students from Yau Tsim District to distribute copies of a poster at carparks in Yau Tsim to remind motorists and carpark managements to stay alert to vehicle theft. The poster, designed by Fung Ka-man, a primary 5 student from the Yau Ma Tei Catholic Primary School, was the winning entry among over 1,000 others to the Yau Tsim Junior Police Call "Crime Fighters' Poster Competition". The schools in Yau Tsim District and the Yau Tsim Junior Police Call Honorary President Council fully supported Mr Chung's fight crime initiatives. The Council's Chairman, Mr Lai Kan, Vice Chairman, Mr Chan Kwok-hoi, and the Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Yip Wah, even lent a helping hand in engaging the Yau Tsim community to help the police fight crime.
