Record turnout at shooting contest

The 2007 Annual Shooting Competition held on May 12 at PHQ was a huge success, attracting a record of over 220 regular and auxiliary police shooters from all 14 Major Formations.

The competition was held at the 12/F indoor shooting range for the first time with the Multi-purpose Hall on 10/F used as the reception area and for prize presentation.

This year's competition also attracted the attention of officers from Guangdong and Macao, who paid a visit to observe the competition and, more importantly, share the Force's experience in organising shooting competitions.

The climax of the day came when shooting teams from all 14 Major Formations battled for the trophy for the newly introduced Fung Siu Yuen Cup Promotion Relay, with Deputy Commissioner (Management) Fung Siu-yuen overseeing the event. Finally, Mr Fung presented the trophy to Police College for clinching the "Fung Siu Yuen Cup".

The other winners were Marine Region in the "UB Team" category, Eastern District in the "Crime Team" category, and Weapon Training Division in both "Revolver" and "Pistol" classes in the "Open" category.

North Point Division won the "Auxiliary Team" trophy. The following table carries the full list of medalists.

At the end of the event, Police Shooting Club Chairman Fan Sik-ming thanked the volunteer workers from the shooting club and across the Force for their excellent support and contribution to the success of the competition.
