With the full support of local community leaders and organisations, Western District (WDIST) launched an Anti-beach Campaign at Repulse Bay on July 14.

Officiating at the launching ceremony were WDIST Deputy District Commander Keith Dryden; Chairman of Southern District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Ko Kam-cheung; Vice-chairman, Mr Leung Ho-kwan; Chairperson of Southern District Council, Ms Mar Yuet-har; Assistant District Officer of Southern District Office, Miss Lam Chin-kiu; Aberdeen Divisional Commander Angela Chiu, and WDIST Police Community Relations Officer Cheng Dien-kit.

During the campaign, promotional souvenirs such as beach bags and pamphlets were distributed to the public, both carrying a campaign slogan calling on swimmers to pitch in to make life difficult for beach thieves. Promotional banners printed in simplified characters were also put up at the beaches in Southern District to remind Mainland visitors to keep an eye on their personal property.

Despite a drop in beach theft in the first six months of the year, WDIST is determined to work hand in hand with the public to make beaches safe for both locals and visitors.
