Deputy Commissioner (Management) Fung Siu-yuen, accompanied by Police Civil Secretary Pang King-leung, Police College Deputy Director Leung Po-tak, Foundation Training Centre Senior Superintendent Kwok Yam-shu, and Kwun Tong District Assistant Commander (Crime) Au Chin-chau, paid an official visit to Shandong Province between June 18 and 22.

During the visit, the party called at the Public Security Bureau (PSB) offices in Qingdao, Zibo and Jinan. They also took time off to see how the Force's Mobile Training Team conducted a training exchange at the Shandong Provincial PSB Training Base.

At the closing ceremony of the training exchange on June 22, Mr Fung presented Certificates of Participation to 80 trainees and 12 instructors, who had completed a five-day Police Tactics Instructors Training Course at the base.

Warmly congratulating the participants, Mr Fung said the Force would continue contributing to enhancing the personnel training of Mainland PSB officers. He acknowledged that the training schedule was very tight and training sessions lasted for more than 12 hours on several days.

Organised by the Ministry of Public Security and the Force, the training exchange was conducted by the Mobile Training Team, which was led by Superintendent (Weapons Training) Lee Yeung-chi. Team members included Chief Inspector (Support Weapons Training) Sham Wai-hong and Sergeants Lee Siu-wah, Chan Wai-che and Chan Wai-ming.

To fully utilise the five training days, the team scheduled additional training activities well into the evenings, greatly enhancing the course content.

During the exchange, Force instructors introduced for the first time the use of colour marker ammunition in tactical exercises. The team skillfully made full use of available sites at the base in conducting the exercises, rendering the various tactics training sessions much more realistic. For some PSB instructors, such methodology was an eye-opener.

All participating PSB officers had a high regard for the realistic combat training and the instructors' efforts. The also considered the instructors "professional, devoted, serious and friendly".
