A total of 25 officers have received letters of commendation from the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, for their outstanding performances at the Queen's Pier Clearance Operation.

On behalf of the CE, Commissioner Tang King-shing presented the letters to the officers at a cocktail reception on August 9.

Unit commanders who have received the CE commendation letter have been requested to convey his thanks and appreciation to all officers deployed in the operation, including members from the Police Negotiation Cadre and Force Abseiling Cadre, as well as officers of the Cutting Tactics Team, Force Mobile Video Cadre, and Video Team - all from the Emergency Unit Hong Kong Island (EU HKI).

Part of the commendation letter reads:

"I commend you for a job well done in the clearance operation at Queen's Pier.

The operation was a difficult one with considerable potential for trouble, and was carried out under the watchful eyes of the media and the public. That the operation went smoothly and according to plan owed much to the professionalism and dedication of you and other colleagues involved."

Heading the list of recipients are Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Koo Sii-hong and Regional Commander Hong Kong Island Hung Hak-wai.

The other recipients are Chief Superintendent Wong Chi-hung (Central District Commander), Senior Superintendent Cheung Tak-keung (SSP OPS HKI), Superintendent Sin Kam-foo (SP OPS HKI), Superintendent Tang Kay-hon (SP EU HKI), Superintendent Kan Tat-on (DVC WFDIV), Superintendent Fung Wai-kin (SP OPS MAR), Superintendent Young Chi-man (COY CDR PTU E HKI), Superintendent Chu King-wai (COY CDR PTU D KE), Superintendent Paul Renouf (COY CDR PTU C NTN), Superintendent Annie Fonda (COY CDR PTU B KW), Chief Inspector Lau Mei-yam (COY 2 IC PTU A NTS), Chief Inspector Chu Sai-leung (ADVC OPS WFDIV), Senior Inspector Chow Hung (OPS HKI), Senior Inspector Wong Wai-shun (SIP HQ EU KW), Senior Inspector Lam Wai-che (TFSUC WFDIV), Station Sergeant Ho Chun-chiu (CDR PLN 2 EU HKI), Police Constable Wong Ho-tat (PSU 1 WFDIV), Police Constable Au Chi-keung (TFSU WFDIV), Police Constables Lam Koon-wing, Lau Wai-ping, Wong Kam-wai, Wong Wai-ki and Shiu Ting, all from PLN 2 EU HKI.
