WDIST scheme starts with a bang |

Western District's (WDIST) Spring Bud Voluntary Work Scheme IV "Lok Teen" Campaign is on again! A short while ago, the scheme started in a congenial and harmonious mood as WDIST District Commander Chiu Wai-yin presented appointment letters to the police voluntary workers participating in the scheme, and led them in making a pledge for their mission. One of the main youth activities jointly organised by WDIST, WDIST Junior Police Call Honourable Presidents' Club, Jockey Club Lei Tung Integrated Services Centre and Cross Centre of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and Hong Kong YWCA Western Social Services Centre, the scheme aims at enabling police officers and school dropouts to foster mutual understanding by taking part hand-in-hand in regular activities and training courses, and enabling youths to regain confidence, steer clear of crime, and lead a more fulfilling life. It is hoped that police officers would, through interaction during various activities, understand better their expectations and establish a good relationship with them, so that the officers' job would be made easier and a win-win situation could be created. The year, the scheme has attracted 51 police volunteers coming from not only WDIST but also Hong Kong Island Region and other police districts.
