The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island (RCPO HKI) recently took anti-drug messages to beach to remind youths to steer clear of drugs and engage in wholesome activities. This publicity event took the forms of a volleyball competition and an anti-drug exhibition on the beach at Repulse Bay, drawing an intense contest by several secondary schools in men's and women's groups, and a big crowd of beach goers and youths. Hong Kong Island Regional Commander Hung Hak-wai, Western District Commander Chiu Wai-yin and Hong Kong Island Acting Deputy Regional Commander Cheung Tak-keung attended the competition and presented prizes to the winners. Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Mr Hung said: "All along the Force has spared no effort in combating drug crimes and has constantly carried out operations against drug traffickers and drug gangs. Moreover, publicity activities are mounted to remind citizens of the menace of drug abuse." He pointed out that the event mainly aimed at reminding young people that drug abuse would ruin their whole lives, and that drug abuse would not only breach the law but also bring permanent damage to the body. He encouraged youths to engage in more recreational activities during the summer holidays, such as beach volleyball.
